REOS 202: Snow in Dordrecht
On Friday, 27 th January 2004, it was winter in the Netherlands. In the south of the country, lay a fresh covering of snow. Between 7:30 and 11:30, we filmed from platforms 4 and 5. A tremendous variety of trains pass through this winter scene.
Routed between the passenger trains, we witness many freights passing at various speeds, some creating blizzard conditions as they pass. Listen to the impressive sound of the diesel engines from ex BR 232 "Ludmilla's" and Class 66's as they climb the gradient towards the bridge at full throttle.
A coal train gets into trouble when the driver notices that the first loco is leaking fuel. The 4000 tons is stopped on track 6, causing scheduling problems. A track maintenance train, with an ex 2200 series, arrives at platform 4, making it even more difficult for the passenger trains to enter the station.
A 6400 series loco is called to assists the coal train. After being coupled, an attempt to depart with 4 locos fails. A decision is taken to uncouple the defective loco and park it on track 7. After a long delay, the train can then continue on its journey towards the German border.
We only use original sound recordings, without any commentary or music.
Running time 55 minutes. DVDR, stereo/Dolby®-surround.
