Brig, the Cantonal city of Wallis, is situated at the northern entrance to the Simplon tunnel. It is also a major railway junction with standard gauge trains of the SBB and BLS, as well as metre gauge trains of the Brig-Visp-Zermatt-Bahn and Furka-Oberalp-Bahn, which depart from the square in front of the main station. In January 2003 the BVZ and FO merged into the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, MGB.
This film has been recorded completely from the balcony of a hotel that has an outstanding view over the entire station. Filming took place on Saturday the
22nd February 2003, this been one of the busiest winter sports travel days. Many trains have extra carriages, international trains from Germany and Belgium arrive and the TGV departs to France.
Routed in between are many freight trains hauled by SBB, BLS or even DB footage.
At the station square we overlook the busy MGB. The new MGB livery is in evidence on locomotives and rolling stock.
The post busses are present to provide the connections to several villages.
We only use original sound recordings, without any additional music or commentary. Subtitles provide information of locations and trains.
Running time approximately: 87 minutes.
