REOS 002: from BVZ to MGB, Brig - Visp - Zermatt

In the summer of 2003, the Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn merged
with the Furka Oberalp Bahn to form the Matterhorn-
Gotthard-Bahn, MGB. REOS filmed the rack and pinion narrow
gauge line in detail during the summer weather.
Besides normal scheduled trains, you will also see freight
train, the new shuttle trains and the VZ crocodile.
We start in Brig, the centre of the new MGB. The trains are
assembled and shunted with great ease. Through Glisergrund
we reach the heart of the BVZ, Visp station. We witness many loading and unloading activities. Narrow
gauge wagons are unloaded, cable car pillars are loaded and
containers change from truck to train. In 2003 there are
no signs of the forthcoming changes to Visp. We follow the track towards the south, filming from familiar
and not so familiar locations. We visit; Neubrück, Stalden,
Kalpetran, the Kipfenschlucht, St. Niklaus, Mattsand,
Herbriggen, Randa, Täsch and terminal station at Zermatt.
We visited Zermatt again in 2006 to get a winter prospective
of the MGB.
We only use original sound recordings, without any commentary
or music. Maps are added to point out camera locations.
The film is divided over 2 DVDs; Disc 1; Brig to St. Niklaus ; 84 minutes Disc 2; St. Niklaus to Zermatt; 58 minutes 2 DVDR’s. Stereo/Dolby surround©
